INTRODUCTION TO ICD-9-CM

This course is about 10 weeks long.  It is an approved course for continuing education units.  No academic credit will be awarded.

In this course we will learn how to properly code diagnosis'.  We will learn about disease, disease process, sequencing diagnosis codes and ICD 9 coding guidelines.  The textbook has 19 chapters and we will be working through approximately 2 chapters each week.  (There will be no instruction for ICD9 procedure coding as we will be using our CPT books for coding procedures).

This is a "pass-fail" course where the students will be evaluated on homework, attendance, quizzes and exams.
Upon successful completion of this course, students will receive a certificate of completion from Medicode Pros LLC, with the number of hours the student has completed.

After the ICD9 course, we will go right into the CPT portion of this program.

********PLEASE BE ADVISED**********

This program is difficult!  You will be learning a whole new language and will feel very overwhelmed at times.  If you have a background in anatomy & physiology, and medical terminology, you will have an easier time going through this program.  At this time, however, I am not making this a prerequisite.  If you do not have this background I highly recommend you buy a basic Anatomy and Physiology book as well as a medical terminology book for beginners .  They will be a lifesaver.

At the end of the prep course, students will receive their certificates of completion from Medicode Pros, LLC.
